64 MGB Restoration

November 2009

Picked car up in Portland, Oregon. It had been stored in the previous owner's garage since the mid 80s.

Assessing the restoration - the car has front wire wheels and rear disc wheels. The previous owner appeared in the middle of the conversion. Included are two rusty wire wheel axle shafts.

The knockoffs on both front as well as the shafts all are a bronze color, different metal or electroplated??

Body is in pretty good shape, minimal rust, a few small dings. Passenger door is in early stage of the "crack of doom" (below)

Rust is mainly confined to the front passenger side - floorboard is rotted through or weakened for an area maybe 18" long and 3" wide.

Beside the floor board, the front fender has some rust on the very underside but not rust through yet.

The wiper arm is a bit different than on my 67BGT - its curved, rather than flat. Is this correct?

The requisite engine compartment shot as of Nov 09. Exhaust has been removed to repair broken stud. To get to the already broken stud, another broke as well. New ones are now in place. Next step though is removal of the brake/clutch master cylinders to rebuild.
